Beeswax-Coated 10-Frame Langstroth Beehive Kit (2 Deep, 1 Medium)
Product description
Beeswax finish: Each box and component is dipped or coated in beeswax at the factory, so the hive arrives protected against moisture and weather without additional treatment. That pre-applied wax saves time and gives the wood a natural finish that bees readily accept.
Joinery and assembly: The hive boxes are built with pre-cut dovetail joints and pilot-drilled holes to make putting the kit together straightforward. The dovetail construction is tight-fitting for structural support, and the included hardware lets you assemble the components with basic tools. Many users opt to add glue and larger nails or screws for extra long-term strength.
Materials and construction: Frames are manufactured from pine, while the brood and super boxes are cut from cedar for durability and dimensional stability. All wood components are FSC-certified, indicating responsible forest sourcing.
Standard sizing: This is a 10-frame Langstroth configuration. Deep brood boxes measure 16-1/4" x 19-7/8" x 9-5/8", and the medium super measures 16-1/4" x 19-7/8" x 6-5/8"—standard dimensions that work with common 10-frame accessories.
What’s included: The starter kit ships with a metal outer cover, inner cover, queen excluder, solid bottom board, entrance reducer, mouse guard, screws and brad nails, one medium super, two deep brood boxes, and 30 frames with waxed foundations already applied.
How it’s used: Boxes stack to form a standard Langstroth hive. The waxed foundations speed colony establishment and reduce immediate preparation work. The hardware items let you set up a functional hive straight away—add bees and manage brood and honey supers using common beekeeping techniques.

Engineered for straightforward assembly
Many pieces but they mate together very well. Despite a damaged outer box, all internal parts were intact. Instructions are clear—I labeled parts and finished assembly in about two hours including all thirty frames. A small cordless driver, scissors, and hammer made the job easier.

Bee-friendly and well supported
As a newer beekeeper I wanted a sturdy, easy-to-assemble hive and this fit the bill. It went together quickly, feels solid, and the bees adjusted fast. One super arrived cracked in transit; the seller replaced it promptly and even told me to keep the damaged piece. Great service and a reliable product.

Complete kit—use these tips
Kit arrives flat-packed and needs 1–2 hours to assemble. I recommend larger screws for the supers and an 18ga trim nailer for frames to speed construction, though the supplied brads work if you’re careful. The dovetail work is true and the kit is more economical than local suppliers.

Well made—add a little reinforcement
Sturdy construction and accurate dovetailing. I glued joints and used additional brads to ensure long-term strength, and added extra wax to foundations to avoid burr comb. With a bit of extra work it becomes a top-quality hive.

Attractive finish and weather resistant
The beeswax coating looked great and spared me from painting. It has held up better outdoors than a painted hive nearby. Assembly was easy with the dovetails and pre-drilled holes, and the kit came with everything needed, including mouse guard and queen excluder.

Components good, packaging needs work
I compared two kits and found the parts solid with lots of wax protection. One inner cover needed a top-entrance notch that I cut myself. The main issue was the thin shipping carton—boxes had holes and one medium box arrived broken, though customer service replaced it quickly.
