Spring Carrot Patch Brownies are a decadent, fudgy chocolate treat topped with Oreo crumbles and colorful buttercream to look like a miniature carrot patch. These adorable garden-themed brownies are perfect for Easter dessert, spring parties, or any occasion where a fun, seasonal sweet is needed.

If you love a rich, chocolatey brownie, this recipe will be a hit. The base is a moist, chocolate brownie layered with chocolate buttercream, a generous sprinkle of crushed Oreos to create the “dirt,” and piped orange and green buttercream to form the carrot tops. The result is a playful dessert that tastes as good as it looks.
How to Make Spring Carrot Patch Brownies

You can make these brownies entirely from scratch for the best texture and flavor, or use a boxed brownie mix to save time. If using a boxed mix, start at the decorating step once the brownies have cooled.

The decorating is the fun part: after spreading chocolate buttercream over the cooled brownies, press a layer of crushed Oreos across the surface to mimic soil. Then tint vanilla buttercream orange (using a mix of yellow and red food coloring) and pipe rounded carrot shapes on each square. Tint the remaining vanilla buttercream green and pipe leafy tops over each orange shape for a realistic finish.

The Oreo crumbs create a nice contrast in both texture and appearance, giving the brownies a crumbly “dirt” topping that complements the smooth frosting and dense brownie beneath. This combo makes these treats irresistible to both kids and adults.

These brownies are a cheerful addition to any springtime table. They’re easy to prepare, fun to decorate, and make a memorable presentation for holiday gatherings.

Spring Carrot Patch Brownies
Author: Jaclyn
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, salted
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- Pinch salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups ready-made chocolate buttercream
- 2 cups Oreos, crushed
- 2 cups ready-made vanilla buttercream
- Yellow and red food coloring (for orange)
- Green food coloring
Instructions
-
Line a 9×9-inch square pan with parchment paper leaving an overhang for easy removal. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
-
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. When melted, stir in the cocoa powder and a pinch of salt until smooth.
-
Add the granulated and brown sugars to the chocolate mixture and stir until dissolved. Transfer the mixture to a large bowl with the flour, then mix in the eggs one at a time until the batter is combined.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift out using the parchment overhang and cool completely on a wire rack.
-
Once cooled, spread the chocolate buttercream evenly over the brownies and sprinkle the crushed Oreos over the frosting. Cut into squares.
-
Tint about 1½ cups of vanilla buttercream to a deep orange by mixing yellow and red food coloring. Fit a piping bag and pipe carrot shapes onto each brownie square.
-
Color the remaining vanilla buttercream green and pipe leafy tops over each orange carrot. Serve and enjoy.
