4-Pack 12" Glass Lab Thermometers — Alcohol-Filled 0–200°C
Product description
Quantity and size: This set contains four individual laboratory thermometers, each approximately 12 inches long, providing multiple instruments for simultaneous experiments, classroom use or batch work like homebrewing.
Construction and safety: Each instrument is a glass stem thermometer filled with red alcohol-based liquid rather than mercury, reducing toxicity concerns and making them a safer option for many non-clinical laboratory and food applications.
Immersion and reading: These are total-immersion thermometers — the full red liquid column must be submerged in the measured liquid. As temperature increases and the liquid column rises, slide the thermometer deeper so the main body of the column remains under the surface, leaving only the top 10–15 mm exposed for reading. Avoid placing the sensing tip against container walls or the bottom to prevent false readings caused by surface or contact temperatures.
Scale and uses: The Celsius graduation runs from 0 to 200°C, printed for clear visibility. They are intended for measuring liquid temperatures in chemistry, biology, physics demonstrations, food processing and teaching labs, as well as for some brewing and dairy tasks.
Portability and protection: Each glass thermometer comes with a protective sleeve to help protect the stem during storage and transport. The pack is convenient for universities, research classes, food and beverage facilities, dairies and breweries.
Pros
- Four thermometers per set for multiple uses
- Alcohol red fill avoids mercury hazards
- Protective sleeves included for transport
Cons
- Fragile glass construction — handle with care
- Must be fully immersed for accurate readings
- Not intended for clinical/fever measurements
VerdictA practical multi-pack for educational labs, brewing and food processing when properly used. The red alcohol filling avoids mercury risks and the clear 0–200°C scale is easy to read. Accuracy depends on correct total-immersion technique; handle carefully because the glass stems are fragile.

All read incorrectly?
All of mine showed off readings — very confusing.

Scale placement makes them impractical for me
The printed scale begins well above the bulb, so measurements looked off from the start. I didn't use them because the markings don't start near the sensing end. They arrived undamaged, but the layout made them unusable for precise checks.

Solid, old-school tools — seem reliable
Sturdy glass stems that survived cold weather and warmed to my hand quickly. Not for taking fevers, but great for candy making and lab demos. They feel well built and four in a pack is good value; readings matched expectations in my tests.
