- I’m moving the lychee martini beyond its one-note reputation for being only sweet and floral by adding currants to introduce a touch of tartness. This lychee martini is finished atop a lemon sorbet base for a refreshing summertime martini slush.
Currant and Lychee Martini Slush
You know I like to take liberties with classic cocktails. I shared this drink with two bartender friends and both reacted with surprise.
- Their thought — flavor: good mix. Sorbet? Seriously — sorbet doesn’t belong in a martini. It does when you’re making a martini slush.
- My response: take a sip first, then we can debate whether this is a martini abomination.
